KWANKWASO’S N45B ESTATES A SCAM- GANDUJE

KANO – Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje Thursday said that the three mega cities initiated and completed by his predecessor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, was a liability to his administration.
Ganduje who spoke in Kano while he conducting a team of editors round projects said that the multi-billion naira estate commissioned over three years ago attracted no buyers.
The cities namely: Kwankwasiyya, Amana and Bandirawo were conceived by Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s administration to tackle the housing deficit in Kano and decongest the city.
Ganduje lamented that aside from the fact that no buyers had shown interest because of the exorbitant price, the former governor left unpaid N3.6 billion he owed to contractors.
The governor said that they realized that the housing estates were a hard sale, adding that “we have decided to reduce the prices to make it more attractive to buyers”.
Ganduje who is constructing affordable housing estates adjacent the flawed estate Amana City housing units noted that tax payer’s money should be judiciously spent.
“We have done all we could including reducing the cost of these housing units built by my predecessor but nobody seems to be interested and there is a debt of N3.6 billion”.
The governor noted that they after have undertaken both economic and incomes system survey of most Kano peoples they arrived at N2.7 Million per house affordable housing estates.
